My new favorite thing is Cookie Swap by Julia Usher. If you have a second, go to the link and look through the pages a bit. It is amazing what she does with her cookies. It's inspired me to go all out with my very own cookie swap, so any of you that live around me should be expecting an invitation in the near future. I tried the Watermelon chocolate chip cookies. They came out so cute, that I just had to share with you guys.
Sorry the quality is so bad. Only the camera phone was on hand. Of course they don't look as good as hers do, but it was my first try. Using a basic sugar roll-out cookie recipe and food coloring, make a 6''x3'' red cookie log, then wrap a plain dough sheet around the red log and then a green dough sheet around that. Slice the log into separate cookies and cut in half to get watermelon halves. Press mini chocolate chips flat-side-up in the red part. Seems easy right? Beware, this is not as easy as it was in the instructions. After each step, chill the dough for an hour or two to make it stiffer and easier to work with.

Wow! That lady has some talent - everything looks so impressive. Your cookies turned out incredibly well - so I don't know what you meant by saying they didn't look as good as hers! Do they taste as good as they look? You should make your own cookie cook book sometime!

ReplyDeleteAlso, glad to see someone post something. I've been so busy w/ a pregnancy and a 16 month old and a full time job that crafting has sadly taken a back seat. I've got so many things I want to make, hopefully soon I will find the time. Rebecca, I KNOW you've got some completed stuff. Let's see it!!!!

ReplyDeleteAnd, like Jen, my crafting/cooking life is sadly on the back burner lately. With an almost 2-year old and 5-month old taking up all my time and energy, all I can do lately is daydream about crafting. But someday soon I hope to get back in the swing of things. :)
