Lace jewelry frames

Sew, Mama, Sew! is having a scrap-buster contest so I figured I'd share this craft idea.

I made a skirt with brown lace and had so many odd shaped scraps left that I couldn’t really make anything wearable out of them. So I decided that it would work perfectly as a jewelry holder. When you live in about 700 sqft, you have to use your space efficiently. The walls have to become storage space and that is what inspired this craft. I bought all three of these cheap but interesting frames for $2.00 at a thrift store. I then used the inside of the frames to trace on a plain sheet of paper the inside shape and cut it out to use as a template. After positioning the template, I freehand cut the fabric with a rotary cutter 1 inch around the template (to have extra fabric on each side to glue to the back of the frame). Gluing one side at a time, I hot-glued the fabric to the back of the frame making sure that it was pulled taut. If you have heavier jewelry, use two sheets of lace for extra strength. Also, when you’re looking for frames, make sure it can be hung on a wall or you will have to buy the hardware.
